Scotch whisky was discovered in Scotland by Flair John Cor.Scotch whisky was first taxed in 1964 which made rise to a number of companies who sold Scottish whisky illegally. In 1973 the illegal distillers had put off the market when the Scotland parliament came up with a law that made it easy to set up a licensed distillery. Scotch has become a popular drink because it has been technologically advanced.
As new Scottish and Irish immigrants tried to settle into American lands they brought with them distilling technologies never seen before. for the whiskey to carry the name scotch it must be distilled and matured in the parent home Scotland. The American whiskey is stronger, fuller and sweeter because there is lack of smoke in the drying process of grain or corn.
Six different brews of American whiskey exist. Kentucky is the known origin of bourbon. Stipulations of bourbon is that it should be made of fifty-one percent corn and should be stored in charred oak barrels for a term not shorter than two years. The spirit in it must not exceed eight percent alcohol by volume. It is worth to note that bourbon is produced in many different states. Tennessee is closely related to bourbon. However, Tennessee must be filtered through sugar maple charcoal and can only be distilled in Tennessee. There are so far two types of this whiskey namely Jack Daniels and George Dickel. Other types of whisky are created by blending Rye and wheat whisky. This whiskey must be fifty-one percent Rye to been deemed rye so thus only a few of them are bottled. Rye is distilled in the states of Indiana and Kentucky and is it slightly bitter and more powerful in taste. Unlike bourbon the con must contain eighty percent con. Con does not have to be stored in wood and if it has to be aged barrels have to be uncharred. In the industrial market Blended American whisky is mass produced and contains twenty percent Rye and bourbon. The industrial spirit contains eight percent whiskey, and thus it is cheap and easy to produce. American whiskey can be termed as elegant and delightful since it can be served socially in pubs and restaurants as well as be issued as a corporate gift to employees or executives.
